Celebrate Lower Cape is a free local newsletter about life on the Lower and Outer Cape, from Brewster to Provincetown. It is published by Celebrate Local Media ("we," "us," "our"). This policy explains what personal information we collect when you visit this website, subscribe to the newsletter, or sign up through one of our forms or ads, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Information you give us. Your email address when you subscribe, and your first and last name if you choose to provide them. If you reply to an email, enter a giveaway, answer a survey or send us a tip, we receive whatever you include.
Sign-ups through Facebook and Instagram. If you subscribe using a sign-up form inside a Facebook or Instagram ad, Meta sends us the information you submit in that form (usually your email address). Meta's own handling of your data is covered by Meta's Privacy Policy.
Newsletter activity. Like most email newsletters, our emails record whether a message was opened and which links were clicked. We use this to see which stories readers find useful.
Website and technical data. When you visit this site, our platform and analytics tools may automatically collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, the site that referred you, and campaign tags in links (UTM parameters). Some of this is collected using cookies or similar technologies.
How we use your information
To send you the Celebrate Lower Cape newsletter, welcome emails, and occasional updates you signed up for, such as local event roundups, seasonal guides, and giveaways or free tickets when we run them.
To run giveaways and contests, including contacting winners.
To understand which content, sign-up forms and ads work best, so we can improve the newsletter and reach more neighbors.
To answer your questions, tips and replies.
To keep our list accurate and protect the newsletter against spam, fraud and abuse.
To meet legal requirements.
Sponsors and advertising
Celebrate Lower Cape is supported by local sponsors and advertisers, whose messages may appear in the newsletter or on this site. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not give your email address to sponsors or advertisers. If you click a sponsor's link, you leave our site, and that business's own privacy policy applies.
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run the newsletter, and only for that purpose:
beehiiv, which hosts this website and our subscriber list and sends our emails.
Meta (Facebook and Instagram), for ads and lead sign-up forms. We may also upload a protected (hashed) list of subscriber email addresses to Meta so that people who already subscribe don't keep seeing our sign-up ads.
Make.com, which securely passes sign-ups from our Facebook and Instagram forms to our subscriber list.
Analytics providers, which help us understand how the site and newsletter are used.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a merger, sale or transfer of the newsletter, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.
Your choices
Unsubscribe anytime. Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link at the bottom. One click removes you from the newsletter.
Access, correction and deletion. You can ask us to show you, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you by contacting us as described below.
Cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Some parts of the site may not work as well without them.
Ads. You can control the ads you see on Facebook and Instagram in your Meta ad preferences.
How long we keep information
We keep your subscriber information for as long as you remain subscribed. After you unsubscribe, we may keep your email address on a suppression list so we don't email you again, and we may keep limited records as needed for legal, accounting or security reasons.
Security
We rely on established service providers and take reasonable steps to protect your information. No website or email service is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
Celebrate Lower Cape is meant for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has subscribed, contact us and we will delete the information.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the effective date at the top of this page, and if the changes are significant we will let subscribers know in the newsletter.
